This whole story stolen from slashdot: a CNN article wherein Indian President Abdul Kalam stated his concerns that Google Maps could be used to aid terrorists. From the article: "The Google site contains clear aerial photos of India's parliament building, the president's house and surrounding government offices in New Delhi. There are also some clear shots of Indian defense establishments. Debbie Frost, spokewoman for Mountain View, California-based Google, noted that the software uses information already available from public sources and the images displayed are about one to two years old, not shown in real time."

Since our readers like to know, the official Google blog informs us of the new imagery they added this week, and instead of riddles, here's where the new Google Earth / Maps imagery is: "[...] this release has mostly aerial (higher-resolution) data, as well as some medium-resolution imagery for large swaths of land. [...] 2.5m imagery for the entire countries of: Tunisia, UAE, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and Israel. [...] Updated Terrain: Canada (20m and 90m) and Niagara Falls" Regarding imagery in sensible areas, Ogle Earth has a discussion and a video on 'terrorist' using Google Earth to 'plan their attacks on the Israeli military'. You'll find in related stories below several discussions on terrorism and virtual globes.

It's odd that at a time when the general public is becoming more knowledgable about RS and the like a "professional" can't even understand the basics.
