Cameron Shorter's blog links to a PennState full open course on webmapping. From the syllabus: "Open Web Mapping involves the design, development, and deployment of interactive mapping tools distributed via the World Wide Web and using “open” (non-proprietary, community-developed) standards and software code. This advanced course, specifically designed for geospatial professionals enrolled in Penn State's Master of GIS professional degree program, helps students acquire the knowledge and skill required to design, plan, and implement customized web mapping solutions using open standards and open source software." The spanish language Geomatics blog links to two free MIT OpenCourseWare geospatial courses: Environmental Engineering Applications of Geographic Information Systems and Spatial Database Management and Advanced Geographic Information Systems. The two descriptions: "[first course] This graduate seminar is taught in a lecture and lab exercise format. The subject matter is tailored to introduce Environmental Engineering students to the use and potential of Geographic Information Systems in their discipline. Lectures will cover the general concepts of GIS use and introduce the material in the exercises that demonstrate the practical application of GIS. [second course] This class offers a very in-depth set of materials on spatial database management, including materials on the tools needed to work in spatial database management, and the applications of that data to real-life problem solving. Exercises and tools for working with SQL, as well as sample database sets, are provided. A real-life final project is presented in the projects section." Online Geospatial Courses [+]
As a followup on our three previous stories about online geospatial courses, earlier this month, Spatial Sustain shared an entry on new online GIS courses. From the entry: "The Johns Hopkins University just announced five new online courses in GIS. The online certificate in GIS includes a GIS overview, remote sensing, introduction to spatial analysis, advanced GIS modeling and management of GIS projects. This latest online GIS course offering joins just a select few universities that offer online-only coursework."

I was also happily surprised to learn about iTunes U ("University") offering several pertinent (and free) podcasts and videocasts, such as 20 hours of geospatial courses from Pennsylvania State University.
