Trimble is to acquired @Road. From the press release: "The acquisition expands Trimble's investment and reinforces the existing growth strategy for its Mobile Solutions (TMS) segment. It also positions Trimble as a market leader in providing MRM solutions. In addition to its industry-leading technology, @Road has developed deep domain expertise and a strong field service management capability within its MRM solution set to address challenges faced by a variety of industries, including transportation, distribution, telecommunications, cable, field service, utilities, facilities management and public works. This complements Trimble's existing domain expertise in the construction supply, direct store delivery, public safety and utilities industries."

The SMGIS blog discuss the newly available Trimble VX Spatial Station. From the blog: "I shouldn't tease Trimble - it is probably a lot more reflective of their own young and forward-looking demographic within Trimble, given their leadership and innovation in many other areas recently. Trimble Navigation has announced a new package of cell phone GPS applications available on 12 GPS enabled Sprint and Nextel phones for $6.99 per month. The GPS Pack includes the AllSport GPS(TM), with applications supporting walking, cycling, running and mountain biking, Geocache Navigator(TM), for geocaching, and Trimble Outdoors(TM) for trip planning and navigation.
